Local orientation 3D
Local 3D orientation of a fiber network.
Reactiv’IP now provides its users with a feature to analyze local orientation in 3D volumes. The principle is to divide the image into small blocks and then estimate, for each of them, the dominant orientation. This method makes it possible to:
- visualize Phi and Theta orientation variations within a volume, even when it is not possible to individually identify the fibers.
- adjust the level of detail using the block size, to obtain a more local or more global analysis depending on the need.
- improve visual continuity thanks to a smoothing option, which reduces the “blocky” appearance when the orientation varies progressively.
